Argyle Firefighter Dies While Responding to Wildfire South of Jewel Cave

BLACK HILLS – On the afternoon of April 17, 2019, the Argyle Volunteer Fire Department was called to respond to a wildland Fire 9 miles south of the Jewel Cave National Monument.

While responding to the incident, Dwayne Hudson a firefighter with the Argyle Fire Department was a passenger in one of the Fire response vehicles and experience a medical emergency.

Firefighter Hudson was treated by fellow responders and the Custer Ambulance Service on scene and continued to be treated while being transported to Custer Regional Hospital.

And it is with great sadness that we report Firefighter Hudson did not survive.

The Hudson Family and the Argyle Fire Department wish to extend their appreciation for the support they have and are receiving during this difficult time.
