Blowing snow causes crashes, closes Interstate 80 in Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP)   –   Blowing snow and crashes have closed Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation says the crashes Friday morning caused several injuries. Strong winds are pushing snow that fell over the area Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the southeast Wyoming high country until Sunday morning. Gusts up to 70 mph are possible.

Transportation officials warn that tractor-trailers and other tall and lightweight vehicles are at risk of blowing over.

Forecasters expect snowy weather to return to much of Wyoming starting Sunday.
