Edgemont Woman Identified as Fatality in Wednesday’s Crash West of Custer

Custer, SD.    –   An Edgemont, SD., woman has been identified as the person who died Wednesday, June 27, in a two-vehicle crash west of Custer.

The woman’s 2018 Hyundai Elantra was eastbound on U.S. Highway 16 and traveling on the shoulder of the westbound side. A westbound 2000 Peterbilt Conventional 379 fuel truck attempted to avoid the car, but the two vehicles collided.

Lumeda Huber, 73, of Edgemont,  and formerly of Newcastle,  was driving the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was wearing a seatblet. The 66-year-old truck driver, David Hauck, Batesland, S.D., received minor injuries.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
