Fair Board decides to move forward with modified County Fair
The Weston County Fair Board has officially decided that the 2020 Weston County Fair will be held as close to normal as possible. The plan is to have the 4-H and FFA livestock shows, livestock sale, and open and youth static exhibits.
Currently decisions on the evening events are on-hold as the board determines the ability to follow the COVID-19 restrictions. The board will revisit the ability to hold those and other events as new guidelines are handed down by the Governor and State Health Officer.
Some of the “high touch” events such as the Friends of Fair’s bouncy houses and the annual JLC Buyer Appreciation Dinner, will need to be cancelled.
Other changes to this year’s fair will include standardizing premiums across all exhibits to $3 for purple/State Fair blue/1st place, $2 for blue/2nd place, and $1 for red/3rd place.
All of the static exhibit check-ins will only occur on Tuesday starting at 9 am and closing at 7 pm, to help with congestion and social distancing orders.
The fair book will not be printed this year, but it will be available on the fair website: westoncountyfair.com, along with the schedule and entry forms.
The fair is slated to begin July 24th and run through August 2nd. As more information becomes available, plans will be adjusted and updates released, with the hope to make this year’s fair a safe and fun event.
