First case of COVID-19 in Weston County resident in child testing positive outside Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. | WESTON COUNTY – Weston County Public Health has been informed by the Wyoming Department of Health that the first positive case of COVID-19 has been identified in a county resident.

A female child was tested with a positive result outside of Wyoming but is a Weston County resident. It is standard procedure to assign positive test results to the county of residence.

We are in the process of performing contact investigations to identify those who have been in close contact with the positive case. Contact investigations are critical to identify potentially exposed individuals and place them in isolation or quarantine. Close contacts will be placed on quarantine and monitored for symptoms for 14 days.

Weston County Public Health will not release any further information about the individual or contacts associated with this case to protect their privacy and asks everyone to be kind, compassionate and supportive.
