High winds topple 9 semi-trucks on I-25 near Cheyenne
Cheyenne, WY. – High wind speeds, some near 60 mph, were responsible for tipping over a total of nine semi-trucks on Interstate 25 near the border of Wyoming and Colorado on Monday.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation closed the interstate for close to an hour to clean up the wreckage.
A wind advisory was issued Monday along with a warning to high-profile vehicles.
More semi-trucks did blow over on other highways in the surrounding region as a result of the high winds.
Drivers that ignore advisories can be subject to a $750 fine or even face prison time.
