Jackson Close to Setting Snowfall Record this Month
JACKSON, WY. (AP) — Jackson is close to setting a record for snowfall this month.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reported Sunday that the town had received just over 43 inches of snow this month, making it the snowiest February ever there. It’s a few inches away from becoming the second-snowiest month ever in the town’s history and snow is in the forecast all week. December 2008 currently holds that record.
The most snowfall in a month in Jackson was 56 inches in January 1969.
Teton Pass was temporarily closed for avalanche work Monday morning. The Bridger Teton Avalanche Center says heavy snow and strong winds could create dangerous avalanche conditions in the backcountry areas of the Absaroka Mountains, Jackson Hole, Star Valley and the Salt River and Wyoming ranges through Tuesday morning.
