Longhorns defeat Buffalo, remain 9-0 in Wednesday night home showdown
Newcastle, WY. – Newcastle Longhorns defeated Buffalo in a Wednesday night home game, despite allowing a 3-Run inning. Several younger players were pressed into service for the game as six starters were unavailable for the contest for a variety of reasons.
Newcastle weathered a scare by Buffalo in the seventh inning where Newcastle Longhorns coughed up three runs, but the Longhorns still won 9-3. They secured the victory thanks to five runs in the third inning. Cameron Williams, Sawyer Roberson, and Dayton Williams each had RBIs in the big inning.
Newcastle got things moving in the first inning, when Roberson doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The Longhorns tallied five runs in the third inning. Williams, Roberson, and Williams each drove in runs during the inning. Roberson led things off on the hill for Newcastle Longhorns. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out six and walking one.
Newcastle tallied 12 hits. Roberson, Jake Lacy, Williams, and Luke Hams all managed multiple hits for Newcastle Longhorns. Roberson led Newcastle with three hits in five at bats. Newcastle was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Isaac Prell made the most plays with 15.
Newcastle remains undefeated on the season with a nine wins and no losses.
The next game will be a nine inning single game in Belle Fourche against the Belle Fourche Bombers on Tuesday, May 22nd.
