Motive Unclear in Shooting at Wyoming Hospital
CASPER, WY. (AP) – Police in Wyoming say they’re not sure what prompted a man to fire shots inside a hospital overnight.
Nobody was hurt in the shooting around 1 a.m. Monday at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
Police say they responded to the hospital’s emergency room and found signs of shots fired in the radiology department. Within 15 minutes they allegedly found 20-year-old Mitchell D. Taylor, of Casper, in a mechanical area of the hospital.
Police Chief Keith McPheeters says police used a Taser to subdue Taylor. Emergency room staff evaluated Taylor before police took him to jail.
McPheeters says police recovered a handgun and are investigating what led to the shooting.
Taylor faces charges including aggravated assault, use of firearm while committing a felony, and felony property damage.
