Note on personal fireworks usage in Weston County:

YOU CAN:

1. Discharge fireworks at any time on private land outside the city limits of Upton and Newcastle

2. Discharge fireworks within Newcastle city limits from 12 Noon until midnight on July 4th.

YOU CANNOT:

1. Discharge fireworks on federal or state lands OR inside the Town of Upton

Please use caution and common sense when lighting fireworks:

Only light fireworks in clear, open areas away from buildings, vehicles, trees and dry grass (preferably in large areas of bare ground, gravel or concrete).

Be sure to have fire suppression means available while lighting, preferably a connected water hose, but at minimum a suitable fire extinguisher and shovel. If a fire starts that cannot be readily suppressed, be sure to call 911 right away so firefighters and equipment can be dispatched to the scene.

After shooting fireworks, please be sure to pick up trash or other bits leftover from fireworks and remain in the area for at least 30 minutes to ensure there are no smoldering embers.
