Robert Frolander, 73

Robert Frolander 73, of Sundance, passed away on October 9, 2016 at his home.
Robert James Frolander was born on September 23, 1943 in Sundance, WY to Edwin and Frances (Warner) Frolander. Robert was raised in Sundance by his Aunt Ruth Frolander following his father’s death. He attended Missouri Military Academy and following graduation moved to Denver, Colorado where he met and married his wife, Patricia (Prier) Frolander. They were married for 54 years.
Robert moved his family to Sundance in 1969, and took over management of Aunt Ruth’s ranch, subsequently buying it in 1985. Robert was struck with heart disease when he was 37 but never let that slow him down. He opened a machine shop on the ranch which continues today under the ownership of their son. Many a member of our community can attest to Robert’s creativity and the challenge to fix whatever was broken.
Hunting and fishing were Robert’s favorite hobbies. He enjoyed several trips with his family and friends and they have the stories to prove it! He also had a wicked sense of humor and was a wonderful listener.
Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Pat; son, Michael Frolander; daughter, Becky Hughes, daughter, Shannon and husband Larry Baseman; granddaughter, Megan and husband Ryan Walker; grandson, Ryan and wife Tess Malo; grandson, Derek Malo; granddaughter, Tessa Hughes; sister, Kaye and husband Arvey Johnson; niece, Kaylee Jones; nephew, Heath Richards; great-granddaughter, Arayla and great-grandson, Braylen.
Preceding Robert in death are his parents, Aunt Ruth, and grandson, Taylor Nixon.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM on October 13, 2016 at the Old Sundance High School, 108 North 4th in Sundance. A dinner will follow the service in the community room of the Crook County Court House. Robert’s ashes will be scattered at the family ranch at a private service.
Honorary pallbearers are Rod Malo, Dave Foster, Bill Whalen, George Whalen, Dan Haas, and Tom Richards.
A memorial has been established to the High Plains Anglers, an organization dedicated to the preservation of fishery habitat. This group also partners with the physically-challenged and veterans providing memorable opportunities connected with fishing.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
