Salt Lake Police recover evidence in murder of teen girl after searching Uinta landfill

Evanston, WY. | Salt Lake City, UT.     –     The Salt Lake City Police sent about 20 officers to the Uinta County Landfill near Evanston Wyoming, following up on tips related to a homicide that occurred in Salt Lake City ten days ago.

The victim, 15-year-old Baleigh Bagshaw, was attacked and murdered on May 7. A suspect in the incident, Shaun French, was arrested in Colorado following a regional search.

Officers conducted a coordinated search of the landfill in hopes of locating evidence related to the investigation. There were over 250 staffing hours dedicated to the search of the landfill, and evidence was recovered.

Details of the nature of the evidence cannot be disclosed at this time.
