Some Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming Customers See Duplicate Charges

CHEYENNE, WY. (AP) — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming says some of its members have been charged too much in monthly premium payments due to a bank processing error.

Blue Cross Blue Shield said in a news release that the problem occurred when the bank erroneously reprocessed multiple times a single batch file of members’ monthly automatic premium payments. The release also stated that “ANB Bank has taken full responsibility and has acted quickly to reverse and credit members’ accounts for the incorrect duplicate charges.”

The release continued, “Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming recognizes the financial impact this has on our members and is working diligently with ANB Bank to ensure that all impacted members will be refunded any overdraft charges or fees as a result of this error.

The company says the bank is expected to have any overcharges credited back to members by Wednesday.

The company says fewer than 10 percent of its 100,000 customers statewide were affected by the duplicate charges and it is working to ensure refunds of any overdraft charges or fees as a result of this error.

Members are advised that if their account does not reflect this correction by the morning of December 5, that they should contact Blue Cross Blue Shield of WY or call ANB Bank.
