Two ceremonies to be held honoring Gold Star families
Cheyenne, WY. – Wyoming’s Gold Star families are being honored at two ceremonies on Dec. 11 at the Wyoming State Museum, in Cheyenne.
Gold Star families are those families who have had a military family member die while on orders serving their nation. Gov. Matt Mead and Wyoming Military Department leadership are hosting the ceremonies. The public is invited to attend.
In the first event, beginning at 9:30 a.m., families will place ornaments honoring their fallen member on the Wyoming State Christmas Tree.
The second event, immediately following, begins the annual Wreaths Across America initiative. A wreath will be on display through the season honoring all military members who have died. Annually around the country wreaths are placed on military members’ gravesites and one commemorative wreath is placed in each state capitol.
