University of Wyoming Sets Minimum Exam Requirements

The Laramie Boomerang reported Tuesday that university trustees voted earlier this month to make changes to admissions requirements.

For high school graduates with GPAs of 2.5 to 2.99, the university will require a minimum score of 17 out of 36 on the ACT or a score of at least 900 out of 1600 on the SAT.

The university previously did not require the tests for students in this group.

The university says it has admitted about 20 freshmen in the group annually, but only about half continue past their first year.

For students with lower GPAs, the university still requires a 20 on the ACT or a 1020 on the SAT.
