Wintry Weather Closes I-80, Other Wyoming Routes
SOUTHWEST WYOMING (AP) — Wintry weather has closed Interstate 80 across much of Wyoming.
The interstate highway is closed in both directions from Rawlins to Rock Springs and eastbound from Evanston to U.S. 189. The Wyoming Department of Transportation says those sections of highway are unlikely to reopen until Thursday.
Yesterday’s high winds and additional snow created large snowdrifts and very poor visibility. WYDOT is working to push those drifts as far back from the interstate as possible.
Other roads closed due to snow and blowing snow include Wyoming 28 from Lander to Farson, Wyoming 789 north of Baggs, U.S. 287 north of Rawlins and U.S. 30 from Bosler to Walcott Junction.
The National Weather Service expects snow to continue in western Wyoming through Thursday and in the mountains through Friday.
