Woman killed after motorcycle hits antelope South of Newcastle
NEWCASTLE – A 64-year-old woman from South Dakota died over the weekend when her trike motorcycle struck an antelope in northeast Wyoming.
The crash happened at approximately 2:17 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 20th on U.S. 16, southeast of Newcastle.
Wyoming Highway Patrol says the trike was eastbound near milepost 256.5 when an antelope ran in front of the trike and the driver hit the antelope, causing the trike to overturn.
Hanson was separated from the trike, then pinned underneath the vehicle. Hanson was wearing a helmet, but died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
This fatality marks the 19th motorcycle fatality on Wyoming’s highways this year.
