Wyoming trooper rescues driver from burning truck

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities say a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper rescued a person from a burning vehicle near Wheatland.

Lt. Kyle McKay tells the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that a pickup truck lost control on an icy stretch of Interstate 25 early Tuesday and went down an embankment.

McKay says Trooper Samuel Szott arrived to find the front end of the truck engulfed in flames and a person slumped over the wheel. Another person pulled over to help.

McKay says Szott opened the door and pulled the unresponsive driver out of the vehicle.

The driver, who was not identified, was transported to a hospital in Wheatland. His condition and the extent of his injuries were not clear.
