Iowa snowmobiler killed in Northwest Wyoming avalanche

Jackson, WY. — An Iowa man was snowmobiling near Togwotee Pass, when he was killed in a weekend avalanche according to Teton County officials.

A 24-year-old Taylor Bruggeman of Saint Ansgar, Iowa, died late Sunday afternoon while snowmobiling with two friends.

Search and rescue was notified of the avalanche around 4:10 p.m. on Sunday.

Taylor’s riding partners saw the avalanche happen and were able to see a portion of his buried snowmobile. They were unable to locate Bruggeman, however. One friend stayed behind, while the other drove to a location with cell service in order to call for help.

None of the men were carrying avalanche gear.
