July ’18 is Yellowstone’s Fifth Busiest, Numbers Hold Strong in 5-Year Growth Trend

Mammoth Hot Springs, WY.    –    So far in 2018, Yellowstone National Park has hosted 2,322,270 visitors, up slightly from the same period last year.  The note of interest is when comparing 2018 visitor numbers to data trends over  the last five years, visitation to the park is on a steady climb.  Year-to-date visitation numbers are showing that 2018 is up 19 percent higher than five years ago in 2014.

Year-to-date Recreation Visits (through July)

2018 – 2,322,270
2017 – 2,316,542
2016 – 2,427,988
2015 – 2,279,557
2014 – 1,943,682

The data also shows that July 2018 numbers are down slightly from last year, with 940,563 visits. This July will mark the only the fifth busiest July ever recorded in Yellowstone.

This data does, however, underscore the importance of planning a trip to Yellowstone ahead of time, if you are interested in visiting the park.
