New bill will ask WY Legislators to consider raising animal cruelty fines

Cheyenne, WY.    –    Wyoming State Rep. Mike Gierau has introduced a bill that will ask lawmakers to consider increasing fines for those convicted of animal abuse. Gierau’s proposal would raise the fine for a first-time animal cruelty conviction to $2,500 and raise the fine for a second offense to $10,000.

Currently Wyoming state laws set the fines for misdemeanor animal cruelty and a subsequent offense at $750 / 6 months of prison time, and $5,000 / 1 year prison time respectively.
