Obituary for Sandra “Sandi” Kay Simmons

Sandi was born May 17, 1947 in Newcastle, WY to Carl O. Larson and Anna Marie (Bock) Larson Mercer. She was greeted with open arms by her sister Carla Ann (Larson) Nunez. She had attended Osage Kitty Moats grade school and Newcastle High School, graduating in 1965.

Sandi grew up in Osage, WY, in the same home she spent her last year residing in. She met and married Gary Simmons in 1965 and to that union were 3 daughters: Marsha Rae Chittim, Stephanie Lynn Simmons and Keo Jo Simmons (still born).

Sandi had several jobs over the years. She worked at Boise Cascade in Osage and ran the de-barker. She bar tended at Polly’s in Upton and then retired from WCHS where she was in housekeeping.

Sandi spent countless years running after and attending events for her kids, grandsons and great granddaughters. Sandi had the most beautiful Iris garden that she spent her time attending to. When she wasn’t in her flower garden or off to see her family, you could find her crocheting. She was very talented in the art of crochet. She gifted many afghans to her loved ones. Sandi was a huge Elvis fan. Her most cherished memory was getting to vacation with her sister Carla to see Graceland.

In April 2019 Sandi was diagnosed with many cancers. She was reluctant to take treatment, but she courageously fought the diseases until her passing.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Anna Larson; brother Donnie; infant daughter Keo Jo Simmons; and husband Gary Simmons.

Sandi is survived by her sister Carla Ann Nunez of Shoshoni, WY; daughter Marsha (Wayne) Chittim of Osage, WY; daughter Stephanie Simmons of Gillette, WY; grandsons Skylar (Amanda) Riehemann of Gillette, WY, Garrett (Shelby) Jackson of Powell, WY, and Kramer (Mo) Jackson of Gillette, WY; great granddaughters Sienna Raine and Scarlett Rae Riehemann of Gillette, WY; best friend Katherine (Dale) Filholm; and many other extended family members and wonderful friends.

Condolences may be mailed in care of Meridian Mortuary, 111 S. Railroad Ave., Newcastle, WY 82701. Graveside Services to be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, WY Monday, July 13th, 10:00 a.m. The family extends and invitation for a luncheon at Newcastle Lodge & Convention Center following service.

    I remember a day (during a blizzard) back in the late 70's I pulled her and two daughters out of a large snow drift on the Summers lease road in the Osage oil field. We remained friends since that day. She was lots of fun to be around.
