Rep. Cheney Offers Help to Residents Who Lost Homes in Fire

JACKSON, WY. – Wyoming U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney is reaching out to residents who lost homes in a destructive wildfire south of Bondurant.

The Republican attended a community meeting Tuesday night and told residents that her office will do everything possible to help them.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports she even passed out a direct personal line to a roomful of people. The first-term member of Congress committed to conveying the devastation to President Donald Trump’s staff, including U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.

Authorities say the Roosevelt fire destroyed 55 homes and burned about 96 square miles (249 square kilometers). It was started Sept. 15 by someone’s abandoned warming fire.

However, officials say the total losses may not reach eligibility levels for state or national disaster relief.
