Wyoming Legislature sends approved budget to Gov, but extends session
Cheyenne, WY. – On Saturday, the Wyoming Legislature approved a two-year primary state budget, by a 19-11 vote in the Senate and and a 38-20 vote in the House. The budget will now be sent on to the governor’s desk.
The budget was said to have followed closely to Governor Mead’s recommendations for funding state agencies.
However, after failing to reach an agreement over K-12 education finance and capitol construction projects, the Legislature will extended its session into this week.
The House and Senate will continue to debate the remaining budget issues, in separate proposals, when they reconvene on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
A special session is not expected to be necessary, as three extra days carrying over from last session, should allow lawmakers enough time to workout remaining budget items.
